~Somewhere Over the Rainbow~

This was the view from our front porch the other evening:



It was very bright (pic doesn't do it justice) and I dragged all the kids outside, and even knocked on the neighbor's door, and dragged *their* kids outside!!
::sigh::

♥Back from Vacation and 6 Weird Things♥

The 4 oldest kids walking down the "road" towards the creek to find minnows, frogs, salamanders and crawfish....

6 WEIRD THINGS~~I've been tagged!!
THE RULES: Each player of this game starts with the 6 weird things about yourself. People who get tagged need to write on their own blog their own 6 weird things as well as state this rule clearly. Wierd things about me:

1~ I'm with Jodi....LOVE my kids, but by the end of the day, I'm a bit "touched out"..my nearly 12 month old is still nursing several times per day, and by bedtime, I'm ready for an hour to myself! :oP
2~I can't sit still for very long...I'm a bit hyper and always running hither and yon!
3~ I sometimes speak "Mother-ese" even when there are no babies around! (been a mom for 17 years, now, some habits are hard to break!)
4~AND, I'll holler, "Look at the horsey!" when there are no kids in the car! (see above for explanation! he he he)
5~I get "weirded" out over meat....I'm *not* a vegetarian, but sometimes I can't eat meat, if I saw it prepared (or prepared it myself!)
6~I LOVE to sing, which I do...LOUDLY and OFTEN, although my kids say I sound like a frog croaking! :o/

I Made a Lightbox for Under $10!!

I bought 3 pieces of white foam core poster board for $2.68 each, and 1 sheet of white poster paper for $.58, I already had the packing tape!


Then, I taped the 3 foam core boards together, creating a 3-sided "box" (place tape on outside corners)


I placed my "box" on top of the poster paper, (paper was a bit too small, but I made it work, for now!)


I used a desk lamp as my light source for the first pic, and natural light for the second...note to self, "Do NOT use yellow bulbs!!!"




Final results are amazing, I just need to invest in that new bulb for my lamp, or take my box outside! This folds flat for storage, too! ;o)

Fabric Swatches for Custom Pouch Slings

The red/white floral is a soft, cotton pique, the solid green/ green batik is also 100% cotton, as well as the train/stripe fabric.
The 2 black/print fabrics are a stretch twill (96% cotton/4%lycra) and have no solid fabric for reverse side (the sling will look the same on both sides, LOL)***NEW*** Fish pattern with deep green!Still 100% cotton! This is a custom order for cloth diaper covers, they are made of a soft knit material that has been laminated, to be waterproof! (the laminate never touches your child, it is between layers of knit fabric) This makes for a feather light cover, that eliminates 1/2 the bulk of wearing cloth dipes with wool or fleece covers! So trim, you can't even tell baby is wearing a cloth dipe, under his clothes!

~ I even did the "nap" test, I added a soaker layer to his dipe, for extra absorbancy, while sleeping, and Elijah woke up with NO LEAKS!! I never thought I'd prefer PUL over natural fibers, but I'm SOLD! This is the best diaper cover EVER! **ALSO NEW** and not listed yet, All Natural Laundry Soap, made from simple, yet effective cleaning agents that are safe for all colors, washable fabrics, and machines! Works great in front loaders, as this soap does NOT have suds! A small amout goes a LONG way, needing only 1 TBSP for a reg size load! This batch has added essential oils of lavender and tea tree, for a great scent and anti-bacterial/fungal properties!
