Dreaming of Summer...

It's cold, snowy, and I have to shovel AGAIN! It takes no less than 40 minutes to bundle all the children, to play outside for 10 minutes!
I cannot wait, to just open the back door, and shoo them outback...shoes optional! ;)

And to smell the laundry, drying in the sun...ahhhhh!

A Little Bit of Heaven; Revisited

We're Ba-a-ack!
Remember that Magical Place that I
blogged about here ?
Well, my daughter and I
went back there, last week...
Just as breath-taking
Just as surreal
Just as peaceful
(Just as many spiders, too!)
But thanks to a healthy rainy season,
much more rushing water, this year.
We hiked down the steep incline, and stepped across
slippery rocks,
Just to experience
A Little Bit of Heaven, again

The creek runs under this road.
We descended directly to the right of
the moss-covered stone "bridge"

Looking down, over the side of the bridge

Heading down...it's a lot steeper
than it looks!

Looking back, from where we just came.
We scaled down the right side of this
cement "bridge" and walked over the rocks,
fallen trees, and even in the water,
then turned around, to snap this pic:

The sun, trying to shine through the canopy of trees

Small waterfall, about 6 feet high

Side view of the waterfall

The waterfall drops off directly to my right
(I look like a deer in headlights, I know..
I was sure I was about to fall in!)

The "Pond"

Who needs a swimming pool,
when Gramma and Grampa have a
POND!
And not just any pond...
there's a hunting cabin, a picnic shelter, a swingset
a sandbox,
and a half of a modular home, that has been converted into another
cabin.
the kids call it:
"Grandpa's Half-way House"
Here, they fish, swim, boat, catch frogs, and yes,
the occasional water snake sends everyone to shore!
Last Summer, a couple of beavers moved in... but grandpa took care of 'em
(Don't ask what he's cooking in those crockpots in the breezeway! ha ha ha)

Looking for Bull Frogs

Got a couple!

Paddle Boating

Swimming

The top of the "slide"
which is actually left over construction
equipment :)
The boys pretend to be "flushed away"
BOYS!

Smoke on the Water - Fire in the Sky

Today is my son Ryan's 6th birthday, we have yet to have his party, so I'll post about his special day, tomorrow ;)

Today, I'd like to share a bit of 4th of July magic..
Here's the lake, just after sunset
where we watched a private fireworks display

Getting ready for the big show!

The person at the bottom
of the picture is actually sitting on
the top of a slide,
on a floating dock,
that leads into the lake...
Best seat in the house!!
